Option 1: “Music and Story: Perfect Together”
Piano not your forte? All thumbs strumming a guitar? You can still blend music into your storytelling and Tim Van Egmond will show you how in “Music and Story: Perfect Together.”

Through examples and experimentation you will explore tales from around the world and learn to enrich your stories with songs, chants, body percussion, and sound effects. Van Egmond, a folksinger and storyteller for more than 30 years, promises you will leave humming with new ideas, resources, and inspiration.
Option 2: “Head to Heart to Story”
Looking to inject energy and vitality into your storytelling by exploring your experiences and mining them for personal stories? Joey Novick will lead “Head to Heart to Story,” using theater techniques to sharpen your observational skills and turn nuggets of happenstance into tellable tales.

Novick, a storyteller whose professional life has included stints as political comedian, attorney, and camp counselor (not necessarily in that order), has taught improvisation for more than 25 years. He will share exercises and games that bolster connections with your audience, create a “story-spine” structure, and fine-tune presentation skills, helping you to use these techniques to get a story in motion, build to a climax, and follow with a satisfying resolution. Out-of-the-box thinking will be encouraged!
